Automotive Keys & Remotes

Hyundai Keys & Remote

At Assured Auto Repair, we specialize in providing efficient, reliable automotive key and remote services for a wide range of vehicles. Whether you’ve lost all your keys or need a spare, we can help. While dealerships can be costly and slow, our same-day or next-day service is a convenient and affordable alternative.

Our in-house automotive locksmith can handle most key and remote programming needs for domestic vehicles and a variety of Asian makes. While we cannot accommodate all vehicles, we’ll do our best to help you regain access to your car quickly.

We can readily cut and program ignition keys and remotes for most U.S. domestic vehicles between the years 2000 and 2018, including brands like Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep. For vehicles outside of this year range, availability may vary.

Asian makes such as Toyota, Honda, Kia, and Hyundai can be widely variable in the required key types and programming methods, so our ability to make keys and remotes for these vehicles is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and can sometimes depend on availability of specific parts. We are unable to program any Toyota after 2016.

For German-made vehicles, including Volkswagen/Audi, BMW, or Mercedes, we are unable to program ignition keys or remotes for these models. In these cases, we recommend checking with the corresponding OEM dealerships.

Even if we are unable to program an ignition key for a particular vehicle, we may still be able to cut physical keys for door access in these cases.

Yes, if your vehicle uses a transponder or electronic key, we can program the key so that it is able to be used to start the vehicle. For some makes and models, such as German vehicles (Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, and Mercedes), and certain Toyota/Lexus models from 2016 or later, we cannot program the ignition key or remote. However, we may still be able to cut physical keys for door access in these cases.

Even if you’ve lost all of your keys, we can still originate new ones for you. We do this by using specialty tools to measure the depth of each wafer in one of the vehicle's locks, then we use these measurements to cut a brand new key by code. However, your vehicle will need to be towed to our shop, as we don't offer mobile services at this time.

Depending on the model, we can erase the old keys from the system and program new ones for you, ensuring your car’s security.

Our prices for car key and remote replacement generally range between $150 and $300. This price includes the cutting of the key and programming the remote, but certain models may require special orders that could affect the cost. Keep in mind that dealership prices are often $400 or more, and we strive to offer faster, more affordable service.

Yes, we can program new remotes for most vehicles, including keyless entry fobs and smart/proximity remotes. However, for some specific makes and models, programming capabilities may vary, so it’s best to contact us for details about your specific vehicle.

Yes, we can program smart keys and proximity remotes for most vehicles that require them. The availability of these services depends on the make and model of your vehicle, so please contact us for specific details.

At this time, we do not offer mobile key making services. However, we do accommodate commercial automotive needs and fleet services through mobile arrangements. For standard services, the vehicle will need to be towed to our shop if all keys are lost. If you need to arrange a drop-off, please give us a call at (269) 934-5180.

The cost of automotive keys may seem high due to the technology involved. Modern vehicles use transponders, immobilizer systems, and complex electronic programming, which require specialized equipment and software. However, at Assured Auto Repair, we keep our prices as low as possible—often significantly lower than dealership prices. We are able to keep our prices low, in part, by using high-quality aftermarket keys and remotes. On request, we may be able to obtain OEM keys or remotes for your vehicle, but be aware that these can quite often come with a very significant increase in price.

This is determined on a case-by-case basis, as generally we do not recommend purchasing third-party keys and remotes (though dealership-provided keys are generally okay).

While purchasing keys from a third party, several things could affect our ability to program it. Some sellers may incorrectly sell a key product as being compatible with your specific vehicle. In many cases, even if it looks identical, the internal components may not necessarily be correct, potentially preventing a key or remote from being programmed correctly to the vehicle. There is also a wide variance in quality between key manufacturers. Sometimes, it is possible to find a good deal on a key or remote of reasonably good quality. But in other instances, the adage often applies: you get what you pay for. In particular, we strongly discourage the use of key products from Amazon or suppliers such as Temu.

For these reasons, while we may agree to attempt to program such keys and remotes, we are not able to guarantee their performance. If the third-party key or remote does not work properly, or stops working entirely, a refund will not be possible.

At Assured Auto Repair, we use high-quality aftermarket keys and remotes from reputable vendors, which have been verified as compatible for a number of vehicles. These parts are well-built - sometimes even more durable than factory originals. These are a great option to save money compared to dealership-provided keys - usually, the only "downside" is that these keys do not have the original manufacturer's logo, or may have other cosmetic differences.

On request or by necessity, we can obtain original keys and remotes, but be aware that the difference in price can be substantial, and will usually require a special order. In most cases, this is a largely cosmetic choice.

An immobilizer system is a security feature in most modern vehicles that prevents the engine from starting unless the correct key or transponder is present. This system helps protect the vehicle from theft by disabling it when unauthorized keys are used. Due to this feature, copying an automotive key can be more complex than one might imagine; most modern vehicles must be reprogrammed to accept the new key.

In most cases, yes.

If your vehicle uses a transponder key, we can erase all current keys from the vehicle’s system. This will prevent any stolen keys from starting the car, although the thief would still be able to unlock the doors using the physical key.

Please bring any remaining keys and remotes to your appointment, so they can be re-paired with the vehicle after this procedure. If you find your old key or remote later, it will need to be paired with the vehicle again in order to function normally.
